Postdoctoral position in chemical biology/optogenetics

Paris, France
École Normale Supérieure, Department of Chemistry
The École normale supérieure (ENS) is an elite higher education institution for advanced
undergraduate and graduate studies, and a prestigious French research center in the heart of
Paris (http://www.ens.fr/).
The group of biophysical chemistry at the department of chemistry is recruiting a postdoctoral
fellow to work on the development of optogenetic tools to spatiotemporally regulate protein
functions in living cells and organisms.
Our group is a multidisciplinary group gathering expertise in chemical biology, biophysics,
synthetic and analytical chemistry with a broad interest in the development of techniques to
image and control biological processes.
The candidate must hold a PhD in molecular biology, chemistry or related fields and have a
strong interest in the development of methods at the chemistry/biology interface. An expertise
in the fields of protein engineering, molecular and cell biology, biophysical chemistry and
microscopy will be a plus. The candidate is expected to be self-driven, to have strong workcapacity
and enthusiasm for science, and to have good communication skills.
This post, supported by an ANR grant awarded to Dr. Arnaud Gautier, is available from
February 2013 and is offered on a fixed term contract of 18 months.
Interested individuals should send a cover letter explaining relevant work experience,
curriculum vitae and contact details of two referees by e-mail to Dr. Arnaud Gautier
